The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, Department of Health, has released EMS Information Bulletin #037 regarding the Approval process for carrying and use of the epinephrine auto-injector pens by BLS and QRS services. This EMS Information Bulletin is enclosed with this memo.
The requirements in the Epinephrine Auto-Injector Training Module (Course #004124) must be completed and the service must adhere to BLS Statewide protocol #411 – Allergic Reaction/Anaphylaxis. The medical Director must verify the service has completed all of the requirements and a roster, Signed by the medical director, along with a planned start up date is to be submitted to EMSNP. We will be conducting an inspection prior to approval.
